Meta Takes Legal Stand, Challenges EU Fee As It Battles Regulatory Scrutiny

Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META) has contested a supervisory fee set at 0.05% of its annual global net income, which will likely fund the European Union regulators’ efforts in monitoring compliance with the new EU Digital Services Act (DSA). 

This Act mandates that companies, including Meta, enhance their content policing measures. 

The European Commission identifies this levy as applicable to 20 large online platforms and two significant online search engines, including Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), and TikTok, alongside Meta, Reuters reports.
