Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Overhauls Military Leadership Amid Escalating Conflict, New Army Chief Takes Helm

In a significant development for Ukraine’s war strategy, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a major shake-up in the country’s military leadership during a meeting with top general General Valerii Zaluzhnyi on Thursday. 

Expressing gratitude for Zaluzhnyi’s two years of service, Zelenskyy declared that the time had come for a new leader to guide the army. 

Although Zaluzhnyi did not officially announce his resignation, he acknowledged the necessity for adapting to new realities and endorsed the need to change approaches and strategies in the ongoing conflict.

“The time for such a renewal is now,” Zelenskiy said on X, saying that Zaluzhnyi would remain “part of the team.” He thanked Zaluzhnyi for his two years of service.
